Mission Statement

LWLC's mission statement is:
"We, God’s people of Living Word Lutheran Church, grounded in Holy Scripture, are called to follow and share the inspired Word of God in Christ, to live as faithful and obedient servants, reaching out to all people with the love of Jesus Christ."

We also take seriously the Great Commission given by Jesus:
"But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'" (Matthew 28:16-20, NASB)

As a church we recognize that we:

• are free in Christ
• are accountable to God and others
• are rooted in the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions
• are working together to fulfill Christ's Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations.
• Stand on the sanctity and clarity of God's Word
• Live in freedom from our failings and sinful nature

We also believe...

...The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of the congregation's proclamation, faith, and life.

...There is one God, eternally in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

..."In Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead." (Apostles' Creed)

..."If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful, and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:8 RSV)

..."I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against You [God], You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight." (Psalm 51:3 NKJV)

..."Our sins are forgiven for His [Jesus'] names's sake." (1 John 2:12 NKJV)

...There is salvation in no one else [Jesus], for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12 RSV)

..."But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God." (1 Corinthians 6:11 RSV)

..."Jesus whom God put forward as an expiation by His blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over former sins; it was to prove at the present time that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies those who have faith in Jesus." (Romans 3:25 RSV)

..."Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32 RSV)

..."Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." (James 1:27 RSV)

...Jesus said, 'Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment." (John 5:28 RSV)
